Good Hope FM Press Release

Listeners Are Just an SMS away

Good Hope FM Introduces new SMS system

Cape Town’s #1 radio station Good Hope just got more interactive as it becomes one of the first radio stations in South Africa to introduce a radio SMS management system.

“Listeners can now interact directly with the station and their favorite DJs on air via SMS,” says Brendan Ficks. “We’re really just harnessing technology and making it work for our listeners who now have another way other than telephone and fax of engaging with us.”

The SMS system allows listeners to send shout outs, comments, vote in polls, let the station know about any traffic snarl ups and enter competitions by sending an sms directly to the DJ on air at the time. The DJ retrieves it on the studio desktop in real time and can respond immediately and accordingly.

Added Ficks “The system allows for great programming opportunities and for the DJs to have a dialogue with their audience on air.”The system is auditable and as soon as a listeners’ sms is received they get a message back acknowledging receipt of the message.

Commented Simon Leps of Fontera Worldwide, product developers “This system is amongst the most advanced and user friendly system in the world which we will be rolling out internationally.”

Good Hope Fm broadcasts on 94 – 97 FM in Cape Town and through streaming audio on its website www.goodhopefm.co.za
