Metro FM Press Release SA’s #1 radio station Metro FM just got more interactive as it joins a host of radio stations in South Africa to launch with RadioTXT, an SMS management system for radio from Fontera. “Listeners can now interact directly with the station and their favorite DJs on air via SMS,” says Leo Manne. “We’re really just harnessing technology and making it work for our listeners who now have another way other than telephone and email of engaging with us.” The SMS system allows listeners to send dedications, comments, vote in polls, let the station know about any traffic snarl ups and enter competitions by sending an sms directly to the DJ on air at the time. The DJ retrieves it on the studio desktop in real time and can respond immediately and accordingly. Added Manne “The system allows for great programming opportunities and for the DJs to have a dialogue with their audience on air.” The system is auditable and as soon as a listeners’ SMS is received they get a message back acknowledging receipt of the message. Commented Simon Leps of Fontera, product developers “This system is one of the most advanced and user friendly in the world and we have just begun our international roll out so Metro FM is up there with the best in the world.” The SMS number is 33363, it costs R1.50 to send an SMS to the station and is available to subscribers of all 3 networks in SA. Fontera develops and markets cutting edge mobile solutions for use on cellular networks around the world.
