So Buffy is here. Nope, not the blonde vampire slayer, but rather the strangely named Facebook phone (which is actually named after her). Apparently (thanks to the internet rumour mill) the Facebook phone is “planned to run on a modified version of Android that Facebook has tweaked heavily to deeply integrate its services, as well as to support HTML5 as a platform for applications, according to sources familiar with the project.”

Facebook has been looking at the mobile arena for some time now. Although it has changed scope and leadership, Buffy has been in the pipeline for the social media giant for the past two years.

According to TheRegister, ‘’There’s little doubt there will be a Facebook phone in the next 18 months – an Android handset with a Facebook client pre-installed and perhaps even a dedicated button to access it – but whether it will offer a significantly different experience than that offered on other Android devices is more debatable’’.
